Role of immunohistochemistry in molecular classification, prognosis, and survival of colorectal cancer patients

The aim of this study is to describe the role of IHC in molecular classification, prognosis and survival of CRC patients in Upper Egypt. This is a retrospective cross-sectional multicenter study conducted on 67 specimens of colon adenocarcinoma from the pathology laboratory of Qena University Hospital, South Valley University, and the oncological pathology department at South Egypt Cancer Institute at Assiut University. The most prevalent molecular subtype was epithelial-type carcinoma (CMS 1, 2, 3) (70.1%) followed by hybrid-type carcinoma (CMS 4) (25.4%) and the least frequent subtype was me

Topical Lactobacillus plantarum as a Skin Barrier Repair and Sebum Regulation in Pediatric Atopic Dermatitis: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition common in children, marked by impaired skin barrier function, reduced ceramide levels, and altered lipid composition. This randomized, double-blind controlled trial aimed to evaluate the effect of topical Lactobacillus plantarum (LP) lotion on ceramide levels, transepidermal water loss (TEWL), and sebum production in pediatric AD. A total of 46 patients received LP lotion (1000 CFU/g) on the left forearm and placebo on the right, applied twice daily for four weeks. Ceramide levels were measured using tape-stripping and ELISA; TEWL

Risk Assessment of Community-Acquired Acute Kidney Injury: A 10-Year Retrospective Study in a Malaysian Tertiary Hospital.

Community-acquired acute kidney injury (CA-AKI) is an increasingly recognized public health concern, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. It is associated with significant morbidity, mortality, and risk of chronic kidney disease. However, epidemiological data on CA-AKI in Southeast Asia remain limited. This study aimed to evaluate the demographic profile, clinical presentation, etiologies, outcomes, and risk stratification of CA-AKI among adult patients admitted to a tertiary hospital in Malaysia over a 10-year period. A retrospective observational study was conducted using medica

Geo-mapping of Distribution of New Oral Cancer Cases and Stage at Detection from 2019 to 2022

To analyse the trend and spatial pattern of the incidence of oral cancer and the stage at detection among adults in Selangor from 2019 to 2022 using geo-mapping tools. A cross-sectional study was conducted using secondary data of confirmed oral cancer cases among adults from 2019 to 2022, retrieved from seven public hospitals in Selangor. Data on patients’ residential postcodes and oral cancer stage at detection were extracted. Spatial analysis, including optimised hot spot analysis and heat map symbology, was performed using ArcGIS software. A total of 320 out of 333 registered oral cancer

The role bronchial washing of TNF-a as prognostic biomarker of advance stage of NSCLC

Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) is the most common type of lung cancer, accounting for approximately 85% of all cases. Despite advancements in treatment, the prognosis remains poor, particularly in advanced stages. Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α), a key pro-inflammatory cytokine, has been implicated in cancer progression and prognosis. This study aims to evaluate TNF-α levels as a prognostic biomarker in NSCLC. This prospective cohort study included NSCLC patients diagnosed at RSUP Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Makassar from April 2022 to March 2023. TNF-α levels were measured in bronchoa
