Fractional CO2 Laser with Topical 1% Terbinafine Cream versus Oral Itraconazole in the Management of Onychomycosis
Onychomycosis accounts for 20-40% of all nail disorders. It is challenging to treat due to resistance to antifungal drugs, as well as their side effects and drug interactions that limit treatment options. Itraconazole is a widely used oral medication for onychomycosis, while fractional CO₂ laser combined with a topical antifungal has shown promising results for clearing the nail plate of fungi. This study compares the efficacy of fractional CO₂ laser with 1% terbinafine cream versus itraconazole in the management of onychomycosis.
