An investigation of parents' acceptance of fluoride staining caused by silver diamine in their children' anterior and posterior teeth
Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) an effective treatment for dental caries for young, uncooperative children, allowing them to avoid more complex behavioral management strategies and associated difficulties. This study (Self-controlled clinical trial) was done to examine Utilization of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) therapy by parents with its black staining. Groups of 72 children with their parents were selected randomly from department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry of Dijlah University. Each child's SDF application was completed, and the Likert scale was used to evaluate the parents' acceptance. (1.3%) Of the parents approved the procedure for anterior teeth; while for the posterior teeth (34.7%), parents approved the therapy. The acceptability of staining with SDF varied significantly between anterior and posterior teeth, according to the analysis of these data (P<0.05). In conclusion, the majority of parents accepted to SDF therapy in order to avoid advanced behavioral management measures, even if it stained black. In comparison to anterior teeth, posterior teeth showed a greater level of acceptance of SDF staining. The study's objective is to evaluate parental acceptance of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) treatment with its black staining.
